As a tropical depression was headed for coastal Nova Scotia I was on my way to decorate a gazebo to capture a surprise proposal!
"How did I get here?" you may, and perhaps should, be asking at this point. Well, it all started several weeks earlier when I was contacted by a young man in New Brunswick who had this great idea to pop the big question during a photo shoot. His plan was for me to contact his lovely girlfriend and offer a "complimentary" photo session with the perfect setting, and to make her think it was "her idea"!
Unfortunately, our brilliant plan starting crumbling when his girlfriend did not get back to me to finalize the shoot details and then the weather during the period of time we had planned took a turn for the worse. This determined young man quickly changed his plan to shelter from the rain in the decorated gazebo with me hiding in plain sight while he popped the big question!
I am by no definition a decorator, but somehow, by request, I was able to work some magic and create a romantic setting for the proposal experience. The fog caused by the tropical depression even helped to enhance the intimate atmosphere! My heart was pounding as the couple arrived on the scene of this surprise proposal. For that matter, I am not even sure what excuse he had given to suddenly have to pull over at the park where the the gazebo was located. All that mattered was that she said yes! As a bonus, the rain held off for the big moment The whole experience left a huge smile on my face!
As if a surprise proposal wasn't hard enough, this young man also planned a surprise celebration for his new fiancee with some close friends who had secretly travelled to celebrate with the newly engaged couple!
