Engagement sessions really are a great opportunity to work together prior to a hectic wedding day. Unlike the wedding day, if the weather isn't cooperating on the day of your engagement session you often are able to re-schedule to when the weather is more in your favour - although there is something to be said of the romance of a rainy day session.
I'm often asked what is the best time for an engagement session, and without doubt the two hours leading up to sunset gives the best light. Hello - Golden Hour :)
Along with light there are other factors that go into making a great image including both colour and texture. One of my favourite locations for striking texture is York Redoubt. The best way to see this texture when the sun is near the horizon. When this warm light pours onto the Autumn colours it really become magical!
Of course, none of this happens without a subject to photograph. Rather than just a landscape it is the human element of adding feeling, emotion, and even movement into an image that can elevate it to a new level. It helps when your subject is a great couple like Matthew and Joyce!
